Christian Music for Working Out

by

For the past three months I have developed a habit of going to the gym.  That’s a great habit, right?  I mean, I know I am pretty pumped about it.  As I work out, I really enjoy listening to music.  The only problem was that the music that typically gets most people in the groove to lift harder and run faster was not for me.  Sure, I had listened to rap, hip hop, and pop music with suggestive lyrics in the past and yes, the beats are still good for working out.  The problem really was within.  I had a strong conviction about the music blasting in my ears.

Weekly Soundtrack

by

This week has flown by. But seriously, I am not complaining. It feels good for the week to be done and over with. I have been really busy with work and the holidays. I have been doing some sweet crafts like making bows and wreaths to decorate my house. Everything looks really great, and I am so glad I had the Christmas music blasting so I could get it all done. Otherwise, I am not sure that I would have made through. I hope you all had a fabulous week yourselves and maybe my weekly playlist will put a smile on your face.

Now Marching Band is Cool?

by

Do you ever think about high school now that you have been out? Of course I am just assuming that you are no longer in high school when you certainly might be, but if you are no longer a high school student, do you? Sometimes I do. I mean, I have a sister who is much younger than me, and now she is attending my alma mater high school where I once roamed the halls. I was not really a popular kid in high school. That is cool though, I did not really want to be. I had friends and people to eat lunch with, but as far as everyone knowing my name, that was not the case. I was also in marching band, not the coolest extracurricular activity offered.

My Favorite Holiday Tracks

by

It is the month of December. That just means it is time for jingle bells, Santa’s sleigh, and oh so cute reindeer and penguins to make their grand entrance. I love all that the holidays bring along with it. You know, people are in giving moods,—as long as you aren’t at a mall or retailer—there is a chill in the air, kids are anxiously waiting for Santa to come around. Oh the jolliness overwhelms me! Since I love the holidays and I love music, it is a given that I love holiday music, right? Because I surely do love holiday music. The day after Thanksgiving is when I turn on my holiday jams and I don’t turn them off until December 26th. Of course like any music, I do have my holiday favorites, and I am going to fill you in on some of my holiday music secrets. Just promise me you will not laugh.

Music For Any Occasion – Part Two

by

You know the deal, I provide you with scenarios that happen in everyday life and I tell you the music that correlates. So, let’s dive right back into it.
Scenario Four: You have been dumped by your significant other after he or she tells you that there is someone else and there has been for a while. This leaves you not only sad and heartbroken, but you also feel like a complete fool. Enter, Secondhand Serenade. This guy knows pain and heartbreak. You can hear it in the poor guy’s voice.
Scenario Five: You are finally over your break up (yay). Now you are going out on a date with someone who you think has girlfriend/boyfriend potential. Turn on some Usher. I mean Usher has got all the moves and his music makes people feel confident, which is the perfect mood to be in for your date.

Music For Any Occasion – Part One

by

Have you ever heard someone say that there is a time and a place for everything? Sure you have. When you think about it, it is actually pretty true. I mean you do not go to the doctor’s office at midnight to workout. No, you go to the gym to work out, and obviously there aren’t many (or any) doctor’s offices open at midnight. Maybe it is not your choice, but there really is an appropriate time and place for all things. I think the same argument can be made for music. There is an appropriate type of music that can be for certain moods and feelings. For instance you don’t turn on Dashboard Confessional when you are in a chipper mood and the sun is shining outside. You listen to the emo sound of Dashboard when it is not only raining literally outside, but you also feel like it is raining in your soul. Get it? Now you might be wondering if your musical tastes are all mixed up, and they might be. Here is a helpful guide that will make sure you are rocking out to the most appropriate music at the best times.
